As A Man Lay Dead Click to view lyrics
Theres a boy in the paper who’s as popular as a leper,
Got the mind like a sewer and a face only a mother could love.
He said he was high and that is why,
He got his knife out and managed to act so tough.
As a man Lay dead,
With the blade in it’s bed,m,
And there was his wife,
As she pleaded with him.
Don’t leave me.
They say the man was a music lover who wouldn’t have hurt a fly.
When sitting in his garden he heard the vandal and thought he would settle the crime.
So he grabbed a hammer that they say was for protection and he started to give chase.
To a block of flats where he found his assailant who he squared up to and started to face.
As a man Lay dead,
With the blade in it’s bed,
And there was his wife,
As she pleaded with him.
Don’t leave me.
And the swine must have thought it’s so funny to take a life.
I bet that joke don’t raise a smile to his child or his wife.
He shows no remorse for what he’s done or who he has hurt.
He can go back to the dirt.
And go kill someone else.
So there he stands to receive his punishment now he’s been finally caught.
The judge and jury will release their fury or this is what was commonly thought.
Instead of a murder charge he got off with self defence, never thinking what they’d unleashed.
He had a string of convictions and a history of violence.
A verdict comes incredibly cheap.
As a man Lay dead,
With the blade in it’s bed,
And there was his wife,
As she pleaded with him.
Don’t leave me.
As a man Lay dead,
He was kicked in the head.
And there was his wife,
As she pleaded with him.
Please don’t leave me.
